Outubro e "Breast Cancer Awareness" Mes.  (October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month) Nós todos sabemos alguém que foi diagnosticado com cancro da mama.  (We all know somebody who has been diagnosed with breast cancer)

I personally have been through a breast cancer scare when I found a lump in my breast, thankfully it wasn't cancer, but I can imagine what it feels like to get the news that you do have cancer.

Oi!

Oi! (Hi!)  It has been a little while since I have posted.  I have been busy working on my Portuguese.  It is coming along.  Eu falo um poco de portugues.  (I speak a little Portuguese).  It has been a lot of fun learning.  We know a group of people that are fluent that have been helping us learn.  People that are from Brazil and Angola a country in Africa where they speak Portuguese.

If you are interested in learing a language, there is a great language program that works really well.  It is called Pimsleur.  It is a group of audio CDs that teach you how to speak the language, it is a lot cheaper than Rosetta Stone and very effective.  You are supposed to listen to one 30 minute audio recording a day, during the recording they teach you how to say different phrases, they say them then you repeat them back.  They say them during various times so that you remember the phrases.  It is amazing how well it works.  We bought several books on Portuguese from the bookstore that we are reading, but it is the phrases that I have heard on the audio recordings that I remember.

I love going to fashion shows.  It is always so inspiring see how to wear clothes and accessories and what goes with each item.  Many times they put together a combination that I would have never thought would have gone together and I end up wearing that combination all the time!

This last Saturday, was Super Saturday in the Hamptons.  It is a posh event that happens every summer.  All of the major designers are there: Tory Burch, Diane von Furstenberg, Jimmy Choo, Theory and more.  The event is hosted by Donna Karen and Ariel Foxman of InStyle and the proceeds of the tickets go to help fight the cure of Ovarian Cancer.  Stella & Dot was honored to attend this event among all of these fabulous brands.

Kelly Ripa attended and loved the Serpant Bangle so much that our Chief Creative Officer, Blythe Harris, let her have the bracelet right off of her arm!

Nos Apenas Comecamos!

Nos Apenas Comecamos!  That means "We've only just begun"  Those were the words uttered by Founder and CEO of Stella & Dot recently at our National Sales Conference, Hoopla!  She spoke how the company has grown so much but how we have so far to go and how much incredible opportunities are available with this amazing company.

Voce Ama Bolsas?

Voce Ama Bolsas?  (Do you love handbags?)  I don't know about you but there is just something about a good leather handbag, I love the smell and the feel of them.  I have tried various fabric handbags in the past because they were really cute and you could get embroidery on them, which I loved because I have an unusual name, but the bags just would not last like a good leather bag.  So after a few months of use, I would go right back to my leather handbag.  And I have always loved name brand luxury handbags, I plan my vacations around the fact that there is a Coach Factory Store in the neighboring city.

So you can imagine my delight when Stella & Dot announced that we would be carrying handbags.  And not just any handbags, but premium luxury handbags! Priced 20% less than Coach, Kate Spade and Marc Jacobs.   I swooned!

Welcome to my Blog!!!

I have created this blog to talk about my adventures as a Stella & Dot Independent Stylist and my adventures while I learn how to speak Portuguese.

I know you are probably wondering, are you or your family Brazilian?

Nope!  My husband and I are learning Portuguese so that we can talk to a growing population of Portuguese speaking people that are moving to Phoenix for a voluntary missionary work.  Tem sido muito interessante (It has been very interesting)!
